Untitled prints by John Stango. I first saw Johns work at the Black Banana back in late 80s. Later in the 90s I met and dated his niece and she saw the work and said "hey, that's my uncle!". I have a ton of his work. Interesting fact, my girlfriend used to sell his work out of a gallery on South Street.
This is an infra-red photo
Madeline is an old friend I met as a board member of a theatre company. She moved to Nashville and I miss her.
ball point pen on paper- 10" x 10"
(this was a gift to me for my birthday, a night where Madeline and others ran with me from the police after lightning illegal fireworks)
Doug was an amazing artist. The last time I'd seen him he was living in a room the size of a single bed that doubled as his studio. The bathroom was in the hall and shared with the other tenants. Last I'd heard he had died.
"Growing Pains" : This is a pair of photos that are hand colored with water color. This work was purchaced from Subculture Gallery in the 90s
I bought these 4 prints at Head House Square around 2000 from his mom who was working a booth there.
Two photos by Starr Grill
Dean was the co owner of Subculture Gallery back in the 90s and he and I became good friends. I have a number of his works.
1-4 : The red ones are meant to be displayed as one and they are called "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse"
5 : Untitled - ink - 13" x 13"
My first Shepard Fairey piece is my favorite, it's a signed Obama Hope poster that I got in 2008. I have since bought a number of others.
I kind of love this photograph. I saw it at B2 coffee shop on the wall and I wanted it at once. Her ability to capture the Red and Green in such glorious detail is stunning.
Photograph - (2007)
This piece was bought by a friend and I loved it so much, he felt compelled to sell it to me. She isn't an artist anymore but she should be
Untitled - oil - 21" x 25" - There was this frame shop in the mid 90s on Snyder Avenue between 10th and 11th and I'd walk by it every day on my way home from work. For months I walked by this oil painting by the owner of the shop.. loving it every time. Then that xmas my girlfriend gave it to me. It was a ridiculous surprise and I'm so happy she chose this gift for me.
This is a ridiculously good painting that I won at a silent auction around 2005 or so. I am still convinced that the donor had no idea what they donated and that this is a famous work by a great artist.
(1963) - Oil on Canvas - 12.5 x 14.5
I met Chris at a curling club and we became friends. Little did I know he was an artist who made some great stuff!
1 - Untitled Photograph
2 - "S.S. United States" - 2010 - pinhole photograph - 5" x 5"
Untitled - acrilic - 48" x 48" - This huge work hangs in my living room. It was a purchace at Subculrture Gallery in the 90s
David is a Lawyer and art lover and collector. In his spare time he takes amazing photos of cool things. I have 2 of his works. Apparently he goes back and takes the same photo over and over to get it just right.
1. Untitled - Photograph - 28" x 38"
I consider TS to be one of my 3 favorite living artists. I was lucky enough to acquire this lamp after I was even luckier still to have been able to participate in his Tea Ceremony at the Noguchi Museam.
This is one of 2 etchings I have by Stephen Hazard. The amount of detail is amazing.
(49/120) 24” x 24”
I won’t go into detail about the story of how I acquired this painting but it was a gift from someone who was trying to send me a message. I kind of love how insane it is in so many ways so it’s up on my wall…
1972, acrylic on panel, 36”x18”
